An teenage youth has been judged to life imprisonment with a lowest duration of 16 years for the homicide of fellow student the deceased during a lunch period.

Mrs Justice Naomi Ellenbogen lifted the name suppression order on the defendant during sentencing at Sheffield Crown Court.

In the legal proceedings, the defendant stated he had not meant to kill the victim or cause him grave injury, stating he could not remember what had transpired.

The state countered that he had "intended to prove he was formidable" and "knew exactly what he was doing".

"You served as the instigator and... you behaved in hurt and fury at what you considered to be his betrayal of your relationship," declared the court official during sentencing.

Aftermath

The school issued a message expressing that the student was "greatly missed every day by the entire school community".

Investigators highlighted the devastating results of bearing blades, observing that a "momentary action" can forever transform numerous futures.
