Patriots Equal Longest Winning Streak Since Brady Era with Win Over Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five TDs in the present year
New England equaled their longest winning run since the Brady era as they overcame division opponents the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since iconic QB Tom Brady's last year with the team in 2019
QB Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a score, completing 25 of 34 passes
The triumph extends the New England's advantage at the summit of the division as they moved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to two wins and eight losses
The Jets had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Fields rushing for a short rushing score to finish the New York's first possession
But the home team answered in the second period as the rookie scored two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He aims to be excellent."
Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the victory
